Office Massage, proud sponsor of the Conference Board of Canada's "Workplace Wellness and Mental Health" conference on June 2nd and 3rd, 2015 would like to thank all staff, delegates and attendees that visited our booth at the InterContinental Toronto Centre in beautiful downtown Toronto. It was a pleasure to meet representatives from some of the nation's most well-known companies and treat them to our exemplary mobile corporate massage therapy services. Office Massage provided both, relaxation and therapeutic deep tissue chair/table massages at the event. Mobile massage therapists Rishi and Meghan helped visitors de-stress by relieving aches/pains associated with their travels, from prolonged sitting on their chair at the conference and/or any pre-existing conditions.
Throughout the conference, there was a vast array of knowledge and statistics based on the importance of health and wellness at work. A particularly interesting study was released by the Conference Board of Canada regarding absenteeism and how it cost the Canadian economy $16.6 billion in 2011.
"Absenteeism contributes to a substantial amount of lost productivity and revenue for Canadian organizations and the economy as a whole. It presents itself in many forms, ranging from casual absences—employees off with minor illnesses lasting one or a few days—to longer-term leave of absence" writes Nicole Stewart of the Conference Board of Canada.

A significant correlation between workplace absenteeism and stress should be noted. When offering employees a way to reduce the effects of stress on the job, employers help reduce the costs of dealing with consequences of employee stress, which include burnout, headaches, back/neck pain, mental health problems and overuse injuries.
The following charts are sourced from Statistics Canada. The charts disclose levels of stress in percentages of employed population aged 20 to 64 and where they deem their stress originates from:
• Note that 27% of the Canadian employed demographics aged 20 to 64 are extremely stressed while 46% are fairly stressed.
• 62% of the extremely stressed demographics deem work to be the principal reason for their stress.
